The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) has concluded that a 17-year-old's death at a juvenile detention center in Junction City was an accident due to intoxication from prescribed medications including buprenorphine, norbuprenorphine, hydroxyzine, quetiapine, and trazodone. Contributing factors were cardiomegaly, obesity, and asthma. The case will be reviewed by the Kansas State Child Death Review Board.
