Former Goa CM Digambar Kamat acquitted in major corruption case involving mining leases.
A special court in Goa has acquitted former Chief Minister Digambar Kamat and 15 others in a corruption case involving alleged irregularities in the renewal of mining leases.
The case, filed by a special investigation team, accused Kamat of allowing the condonation of delay in lease renewals, resulting in a loss of Rs 135 crore to the state.
Despite a 700-page chargesheet and a previous report by the Justice M B Shah Commission estimating a total loss of Rs 35,000 crore, the court found no case against the accused and dismissed the charges.
