BC regulators tighten oversight on fracking after earthquakes linked to the process.

In response to four recent earthquakes, ranging from 3.1 to 4.7 in magnitude, linked to fracking in northeastern British Columbia, the BC Energy Regulator has tightened oversight. Operators must halt operations if seismic events of certain magnitudes occur near their sites. This move follows concerns raised by Natural Resources Canada about increased fracking-induced seismic activity in the area.
