Attorney General upholds 52-year minimum sentence for Axel Rudakubana, who murdered three girls and attempted to kill eight others.

The Attorney General has decided not to refer 18-year-old Axel Rudakubana's 52-year minimum sentence for the murder of three girls and attempted murder of eight others at a Southport dance class to the Court of Appeal. Despite calls for the sentence to be reviewed and potential law changes, Lord Hermer stated there is no legal basis for an increased sentence. The 52-year term is the second longest in English history, and Rudakubana will likely never be released.
