Supreme Court rules Tamil Nadu government keeps properties of late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.

The Supreme Court of India has dismissed a plea by the niece of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa to return confiscated properties linked to a disproportionate assets case. The court ruled that the abatement of proceedings following Jayalalithaa's 2016 death did not equate to an acquittal. Therefore, the Tamil Nadu government will retain the properties, which include her residence, land parcels, financial assets, and valuables.
