Man sentenced for risking explosion at community center by puncturing gas pipes with a corkscrew.
A 74-year-old man in Co Donegal, Charlie Lynagh, has been given a suspended sentence after admitting to tampering with the gas supply at a local community center, Mevagh Parish Hall, in October 2022.
His actions, which involved puncturing gas pipes with a corkscrew, posed a significant risk of explosion, similar to a recent tragedy in Creeslough that killed ten people.
Despite Lynagh's history of 35 previous convictions, the judge opted for a two-year suspended sentence and probation rather than jail time.
