Northern Ireland council pays £15,000 to couple after birth registration discrimination claims.

Caroline Joyce and Noel Cawley, from the traveller community in Northern Ireland, received £15,000 from Mid Ulster District Council after facing difficulties and allegedly discriminatory treatment while trying to register their baby's birth. The couple, who have limited literacy skills, claimed they were met with a change in attitude after revealing their accents. The council has apologized and is working with the Equality Commission to improve its services and training.
