Nigerian state discovers 2,363 "ghost workers" siphoning $487,000 monthly from government payroll.

The Zamfara State Government in Nigeria has found 2,363 "ghost workers" receiving over N193 million monthly after a verification of public and civil servants. Initiated in August 2024, the process also uncovered 220 minors on the payroll and is part of efforts to implement a minimum wage. The state plans to suspend workers not cleared and will continue monitoring for transparency.
