Electricity bills rise in the Philippines due to a 12% increase in ancillary service costs.

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has increased transmission charges for electricity customers due to higher ancillary service (AS) costs. AS rates for January rose by 12%, leading to an increase in overall transmission charges. This means higher electricity bills for consumers in February. NGCP clarified that it does not profit from these fees, which are passed through to consumers by generating companies.
