India allows agricultural credit societies to operate fuel retail outlets, with 26 selected for dealerships.
India's government has allowed Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) to operate retail petrol and diesel outlets and LPG distributorships. Out of 286 PACS that applied, 26 were selected by oil companies for fuel dealerships, and 56 PACS have been commissioned to convert wholesale pumps into retail outlets. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas issued new guidelines for this initiative.
