Man loses limbs after severe infection following routine surgery, hospital settles lawsuit.

In April 2019, Chad Gerlaugh, 46, was admitted for a routine kidney stone surgery but developed a severe infection post-operation, leading to sepsis and organ failure. Treatment with vasopressor drugs caused his limbs to lose blood flow, resulting in the amputation of both legs above the knee and both arms below the elbow. Gerlaugh sued the hospital, alleging improper care, and the case was settled out of court.
