Family sues hospital, nurses over 78-year-old's death after long ER wait.

The family of 78-year-old Darrell Mesheau, a retired diplomat who died after waiting seven hours in a Fredericton, New Brunswick, emergency room, has filed a lawsuit against the Horizon Health Network and two nurses, alleging negligence. The defendants deny the claims, saying they used "reasonable skills and due care" in treating Mesheau. The lawsuit alleges that Mesheau's vital signs, which should have been checked every 30 minutes, were only monitored twice, and that his medical history was not inquired about.
