A 49-year-old Calgary woman, who served as a volunteer secretary for the Alberta chapter of the Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans in Canada, has been charged with fraud for embezzling nearly $67,000. The theft was discovered when the national headquarters in Ottawa encountered issues processing payments using the Alberta chapter's accounts. An audit revealed suspicious transactions, leading to a police investigation. The woman allegedly transferred the funds to her business, Scotia Developments, which she co-owns with her husband. She faces one count of fraud over $5,000.
