British grandfather fined £625 for driving electric car in London's emission zone; error corrected.

A British grandfather was mistakenly fined £625 for driving his electric car into London's emission zones, even though electric cars are exempt from such fees. Keith Riding, a retired civil engineer, received the personalized number plate for his electric MG ZS as a Christmas gift and registered it with the DVLA. Transport for London (TfL) has since refunded him and apologized for the error.
