Starling Bank stops paying interest on current accounts, offering a new 4% savings account instead.
Starling Bank, with 3.6 million customers, has stopped paying interest on current accounts as of today. Previously offering 3.25% on balances up to £5,000, the bank now provides a new 4% easy-access savings account, yielding £204 annually on a £5,000 balance. However, this rate is variable and lower than some Cash ISAs and regular savings accounts currently available, which offer higher returns amid an inflation rate of 2.5%.
