Hyatt Hotels buys Playa Hotels & Resorts for $2.6 billion to boost luxury all-inclusive resorts.
Hyatt Hotels is acquiring Playa Hotels & Resorts for about $2.6 billion to expand its luxury all-inclusive resort presence in Mexico and the Caribbean. The $13.50 per share offer is a 40.5% premium to Playa's last close. Hyatt aims to sell Playa's owned properties and expects to gain at least $2 billion in asset sales by 2027. The deal, subject to regulatory approval, aligns with Hyatt's asset-light strategy and follows its previous acquisitions in the all-inclusive sector.
