GRIT launches AI app in South Africa to aid women in abusive situations with panic alerts and support.
A nonprofit in South Africa, GRIT, has developed an AI app to help women facing abuse. The app includes a panic button for security alerts, a digital vault for evidence, and a chatbot named Zuzi. With over 12,000 users, it aims to provide resources and support to women experiencing high rates of abuse, which affects more than a third of South African women. The app, free and usable without data, will be showcased at an AI summit in Paris.
