Green Line collision in Somerville derails cars, injures five, prompting MBTA shuttle bus replacements.
On Sunday at 12:30 am, a Green Line train collided with an out-of-service train in East Somerville, causing one car from each train to derail. Five individuals, including one passenger and four operators, were taken to hospitals. The MBTA apologized and replaced Green Line service between North Station and Medford/Tufts with shuttle buses. The Federal Transit Administration and NTSB are investigating the cause of the accident.
