A Shanghai study finds a low-calorie diet can boost immune response against colorectal cancer.

Researchers from Zhongshan Hospital in Shanghai have found that the Fasting-Mimicking Diet (FMD), a low-calorie diet that mimics fasting, can enhance anti-tumor immunity in colorectal cancer. The FMD enriches gut bacteria that help generate immune cells, suppressing cancer growth. This discovery could lead to new dietary treatments for colorectal cancer, a disease that affects a third of global cases in China, often linked to poor diet.
