Mongolia's capital experiences its winter's coldest night at -37°C, prompting a meat stockpile plan.

Ulan Bator, Mongolia's capital, saw its coldest night of the season on February 7th, with temperatures dropping to -37°C, the lowest this winter. The harsh winter, influenced by the Siberian high-pressure system, covers about 80% of the country in up to 60 cm of snow. Last winter, extreme cold led to a dzud, causing mass livestock deaths. In response, the Mongolian government plans to stockpile 10,000 tonnes of meat to ensure food supply for spring 2025.
