Former Massachusetts state senator Dean Tran has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for fraudulently collecting $30,000 in pandemic unemployment benefits and failing to report over $54,000 in income. He was convicted of 23 felony counts, including 20 counts of wire fraud and three counts of filing false tax returns. In addition to his prison term, Tran must pay $25,000 to the state and over $23,000 to the IRS, along with a $7,500 fine.
