Vegetarian thali prices in India dropped 9% in January, while non-vegetarian prices fell less, at 4%.

In January, the cost of vegetarian thalis in India dropped by 9% compared to December due to lower tomato, potato, and onion prices. Non-vegetarian thali prices fell by 4%, but this decline was slower due to a slight increase in chicken prices. Year-on-year, vegetarian thali prices rose by 2%, while non-vegetarian thalis increased by 17% due to higher chicken costs. Despite these increases, overall retail inflation in India fell to 5.22% in December, marking a 4-month low, as prices of vegetables, pulses, and sugar eased.
