Scientists develop underwater light system that boosts coral health and resilience in Hawaii.

Scientists at Ohio State University have created the UZELA, an underwater light system that boosts zooplankton density near coral reefs, enhancing coral feeding and resilience. Tests over six months showed improved feeding rates and resistance to heat stress and ocean acidification in Hawaiian coral species. While not a long-term climate solution, UZELA could aid coral restoration efforts, with a more advanced version expected in one to three years.
