A program in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, is helping young people start businesses with subsidized loans. So far, 69 people have benefited from the Rural Employment Generation Programme (REGP). The initiative, aimed at those aged 18 to 40 in rural areas, provides a 35% subsidy on loans and is run by the J&K Khadi and Village Industries Board with subsidies distributed by J&K Bank. The program seeks to create jobs and support micro-industries.
