Malaysian automaker Proton has started building its first dedicated electric vehicle (EV) plant, investing RM82 million. Scheduled to be ready by year-end, the facility aims to produce up to 20,000 EVs annually, starting with the Proton e.MAS 7 SUV. The plant is expected to create over 200 jobs and could expand to produce up to 45,000 units yearly.
