Japan's sake exports hit a record high in 2024, increasing by 6% to 80 countries, following its UNESCO recognition. Total exports, valued at JPY 43.5 billion, saw significant growth in North America and Western Europe, up 27% and 18% respectively, while Asia, despite a slight decline, still accounts for 61% of exports. The Japan Sake and Shochu Makers Association plans further expansion into Latin America, Eastern Europe, and Southeast Asia in 2025.
