Fisherman finds fish-attracting buoy drifted 1,000km, catches marlin and mahi-mahi nearby.

A commercial fisherman in Batemans Bay, NSW, found a fish-attracting buoy (FAD) that drifted 1,000km from its original spot near Evans Head. The buoy, one of 30 used to attract fish like tuna and marlin, was tracked with GPS before being recovered. After retrieving the FAD, the fisherman caught a marlin and mahi-mahi, the most commonly found species around these devices due to their rapid growth and tasty meat.
