Dolly, the U.S.'s oldest Southern white rhino, was euthanized at Zoo Knoxville due to declining health.
Dolly, a 56-year-old Southern white rhinoceros and the oldest of her species in the U.S., passed away at Zoo Knoxville. Born in South Africa in 1968, Dolly had lived at the zoo since 1976 and was a mother to ten calves. Due to declining health and mobility, her care team, including specialists from The University of Tennessee, made the decision to euthanize her to ensure her comfort and dignity.
