UK enacts Awaab's Law, mandating swift repairs for mold and other hazards in social housing.
Awaab's Law, named after a toddler who died due to mold exposure in social housing, will require UK social landlords to address dangerous damp and mold within set time frames starting in October. Emergency repairs must be completed within 24 hours. The law will be phased in, covering additional hazards like fire and structural collapse by 2026, and all by 2027. The government plans to expand the law to the private sector in the future.
