Thales seeks to drop corruption charges due to delays, but prosecution opposes, in a case linked to ex-President Zuma.

French arms company Thales has applied to have corruption and racketeering charges dropped due to delays and the death of key witnesses. Thales argues these delays have compromised its right to a fair trial. The National Prosecuting Authority opposes the application, stating it has no merit. This follows a controversial arms deal from the late 1990s during Jacob Zuma's tenure. Zuma is also seeking to appeal the dismissal of his bid to remove his lead prosecutor, Billy Downer, but his request was denied by Judge Nkosinathi Chili.
