Sheertex, a Canadian pantyhose maker, lays off 40% of staff due to impending U.S. tariffs.

Sheertex, a Canadian pantyhose maker, has temporarily laid off 40% of its staff due to potential U.S. tariffs on Canadian goods. The Montreal-based company faces financial challenges from delays in fundraising and the impending 25% tariff, plus an additional 16% duty due to the removal of a tax exemption. CEO Katherine Homuth claims these measures could collectively raise duties to 41%, threatening the company's operations as 85% of its sales are in the U.S. A temporary tariff pause is deemed insufficient to help Sheertex.
