Seven & I Holdings plans a management buyout to block a $47B takeover by a Canadian firm.

Seven & I Holdings, a major Japanese retail company, is planning a management buyout to fend off a $47 billion takeover bid by Canadian firm Alimentation Couche-Tard. The buyout, potentially worth ¥4 trillion, would be partly financed by Citigroup and Bank of America, who will help refinance the company's debt. The Ito family, Itochu, and potentially Apollo Global Management and KKR, are involved in the buyout. Thai conglomerate CP All is also considering investing in the deal.
