North Carolina's public schools reported a 7.7% drop in violence and the lowest dropout rate in a decade for the 2023-2024 academic year, according to the state's annual data report. Despite the improvements, in-school and long-term suspensions increased by 2.9% and 2.8%, respectively. State officials are optimistic but note that disparities based on race, gender, and disability need addressing.
