Long Island University's veterinary school will be renamed the Lewyt College of Veterinary Medicine, honoring philanthropists Alex and Elisabeth Lewyt, founders of North Shore Animal League.
A $20.5 million partnership with the Lewyt Trust will fund scholarships, support animal shelters, and offer community outreach programs starting in August.
The college is the only veterinary school in the New York Metropolitan area.
