John Schulman, formerly of OpenAI, has departed from AI startup Anthropic after a six-month stint, where he focused on AI alignment. Anthropic, known for its emphasis on AI safety and competing with OpenAI through its language model Claude, has seen Schulman's exit met with support from the company’s Chief Science Officer, Jared Kaplan. Anthropic, with around $875 million in annualized revenue, sells access to its AI models through various cloud services.
