British Columbia forms council to combat U.S. duties on Canadian lumber.
British Columbia has formed a new council to tackle the ongoing softwood lumber dispute with the US, which has imposed 14.4% duties on Canadian lumber for eight years.
Led by Minister Ravi Parmar, the council includes forestry, labor leaders, and experts.
It aims to develop strategies to eliminate the duties and protect BC's forestry sector, which exports over $3.3 billion in lumber annually.
The council held its first meeting on January 30.
