Apprentice throws bottle at politician, avoids jail through restorative justice program.

Dean Hickson, a 22-year-old apprentice carpenter from Dublin, avoided jail time and a criminal record after admitting to intimidating politician Michael Healy-Rae during a protest. Hickson threw a plastic bottle at Healy-Rae and blocked his entry to work. He completed a restorative justice programme, which included community service and donating to charity, leading Judge Paula Murphy to apply the Probation of Offenders Act and avoid a criminal record.
