Mississippi sets April 15 special election for Senate District 18 after Jenifer Branning resigned.

Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves has set a special election for April 15 to fill the vacant Senate District 18 seat, covering parts of Neshoba, Leake, and Winston counties. The seat opened after Jenifer Branning resigned to join the Mississippi Supreme Court. The deadline for candidates to qualify is February 24. Currently, Lane Taylor is the only announced candidate. The winner will serve until 2027.
