Luxembourg's inflation spikes to 1.9% in January, driven by a sharp rise in electricity prices.

Luxembourg's January inflation rate hit a six-month high of 1.9%, up from 1.0% in December, according to official data. The rise was largely due to a 24.3% jump in electricity prices, contributing to a 5.53% increase in housing and utility costs. Transportation costs also rose by 1.55%, while clothing prices increased modestly by 0.6%. The tariff shield's partial lifting at the start of 2025 is blamed for the surge.
