Historic Al-Nuri Mosque and its tilted minaret in Mosul restored after ISIS destruction.

The historic Al-Nuri Mosque and its iconic Al-Hadba minaret in Mosul, Iraq, have been restored using original bricks after being destroyed by ISIS in 2017. The minaret, where ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi declared his "caliphate" in 2014, was reconstructed to maintain its original tilt. The UNESCO-led project also restored Al-Tahira Church and 124 heritage houses, aiming to revitalize Mosul after years of conflict.
