A Georgian man was arrested for allegedly starting a small fire at the base of the control tower at Rome's Ciampino International Airport on February 5, 2025. The fire was quickly extinguished, but it led to a temporary suspension of air traffic. Passengers were advised to check flight statuses due to the incident and a separate strike by baggage handlers across Italian airports, which canceled 26 ITA Airways flights.
