Colombian President orders end to oil partnership with U.S. firm due to fracking concerns.

Colombian President Gustavo Petro has ordered state oil company Ecopetrol to end its partnership with Occidental Petroleum in the US due to environmental concerns over fracking. The deal, expected to produce 90,000 barrels of oil daily, involved developing 91 wells in Texas and New Mexico. Petro aims to invest the funds in clean energy instead. This marks a shift as Colombia had not previously blocked such overseas fracking ventures. Environmentalists argue fracking can pollute water and cause tremors.
