South African businessman Douw Steyn, known for founding Auto & General insurance and developing Steyn City, a massive residential estate in Johannesburg, died at 72. Steyn, worth an estimated £3 billion, also launched the Compare the Market website and established the BGL Group in the UK. He was noted for his philanthropy, pledging millions to South Africa's COVID-19 relief efforts, and his close relationship with Nelson Mandela.
