Robert J. Jones, the current chancellor of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, has been appointed as the 34th president of the University of Washington. Jones, who will be the first African American to lead the institution, succeeds Ana Mari Cauce and starts his five-year term on August 1. Known for enhancing student affordability and community impact, Jones brings extensive leadership experience from his roles at the University of Illinois and the University at Albany.
