In Rose Hill, Kansas, adoptive parents Crystina and Joseph Schroer were arrested after the remains of their adopted daughter, Kennedy Schroer (formerly Natalie Garcia), were found in their backyard. Kennedy, believed to have died in late 2020 from probable suffocation, was adopted in 2018. The months-long investigation involving local and federal agencies led to charges including murder, kidnapping, child abuse, and desecration of a corpse.
