An Irish man faces charges for aiding a drug trafficker's 4,600 km escape across Australia.

A 46-year-old Irish man is set to appear in Darwin Local Court, charged with assisting a fugitive, Hussein Chamas, in a 4,600 km road trip across Australia. Chamas, wanted for drug trafficking, escaped a rehabilitation facility and was later arrested by the Australian Federal Police on a yacht off the Northern Territory coast. The Irish man faces charges for people smuggling, with a maximum sentence of 10 years. The AFP continues to investigate the case.
