Indian consumer helpline sees complaints surge tenfold, adopts AI to handle multilingual calls.

The National Consumer Helpline (NCH) in India saw a tenfold increase in calls and grievances from 12,553 in December 2015 to 1,55,138 in December 2024. Monthly complaints rose from 37,062 in 2017 to 1,12,468 in 2024. Available in 17 languages, NCH now uses AI-based speech recognition, translation systems, and an AI chatbot to improve service for diverse linguistic groups.
