General Motors (GM) is cutting nearly half of the workforce at its Cruise autonomous vehicle unit, amounting to about 1,000 jobs, as the company integrates the robotaxi service into its main operations.
CEO Marc Whitten and other leaders will also leave.
The move follows GM's decision to stop funding Cruise, after investing over $10 billion since 2016.
Remaining employees will receive severance and career support.
