U.S. wealth gap widens: Top 0.1% now hold twice the assets of bottom 50%.

The Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis found the top 0.1% of U.S. households hold $6.5 trillion in assets, mostly in financial instruments like stocks, while the bottom 50% hold $3.1 trillion, mostly in homes and vehicles. Stocks, with average annual gains of nearly 10%, are a more powerful wealth builder compared to real estate, which averages around 4.2% annual growth. Investing in low-fee, broad-market index funds can yield consistent growth, making it a better long-term strategy than real estate.
