St. Johns County considers demolishing a historic jail once held Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The St. Johns County Cultural Resource Review Board will discuss the potential demolition of the St. Johns County Detention Center Annex, a building that once held civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during the 1960s. The jail, opened in 1953, played a significant role in the civil rights movement. A public meeting is scheduled for February 10th to discuss the future of the building.
